San Diego, CA – San Diego kicks off the home portion of its inaugural WPFL season on Saturday, August 16th, 7:05 pm at La Jolla High in a rematch against the Long Beach Aftershock. Check below for the complete game schedule.

San Diego is now ready to face Long Beach again. The SunFire began the season Sunday August 3rd on the road with an 18-6 defeat at the hands of the Aftershock at Veteran's Memorial Stadium. The SunFire lost a veteran linebacker in that game as well. (51) Kelly Loftis went down with a neck and back injury. She is now recovering at home and undergoing rehab.

This is the third game of the season for Long Beach. While San Diego was enjoying its bye week, The Aftershock picked up a win over the Arizona Knighthawks. San Diego and Long Beach have built a healthy rivalry over the past two years. It was the Aftershock that beat the SunFire in the AFWL championship game last season. Long Beach @ San Diego – the rematch set for Saturday, August 16th, 7:05p at La Jolla High School.

DYNAMIC DUO- Linebackers (54) Latashia McKinney and (52) Marissa Wilson combined for 24 solo tackles in the SunFire season opener.

The San Diego SunFire is a member of the 17-team Women's Professional Football League. The SunFire's 2003 regular season consists of a 10-game schedule with San Diego playing its home games at La Jolla High School. Last season, the SunFire finished its second professional campaign at 9-1, the best regular season record in the disbanded American Football Women's League and Silver Cup Winners of the AFWL.
