Game 3 Win Or Go Home for Demonz

Published on March 22, 2013 under Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) News Release

Danbury, CT - 3-22-13 - As we approach game 3 of the Commissioners Cup Finals, the Dayton Demonz find themselves in a situation for the first time all season. WIN or go home. Dayton's longest losing streak was three games back on February 14th, 15th and 17th. Other than that they had never lost more than one game in a row. In the Danville series, the Demonz Power Play was 5 for 11 as they connected at a 46% rate and their Penalty Kill was just as impressive killing 15 of 17 attempts for an 89% kill rate. In the Danbury series, the Demonz Penalty Kill was just impressive allowing just 1 goal in 10 attempts. However, the Demonz Power Play was nowhere to be found as they converted only 2 of 17 attempts on Mike Brown. In order for the Demonz to have a Game 4, they need to take advantage of the Power Play and play a rock solid defensive game. The Demonz have given up 98 shots in the first 2 games, not typical of the Demonz.

As the Whalers return home for their initial home game of the series, Coach Esposito needs to continue coaching the same way he did in the first 2 games. Keep shooting the puck on the Demonz net and going hard for the rebounds while being stingy on the Penalty Kill (91% kill rate vs Demonz in Games 1 and 2). If there is one area that Danbury needs to improve on is it's Power Play, going just 1 for 10 on the man advantage. If the coaches can keep the players on an even keel and play like they did in the first 2 games, then Danbury will be the 3rd and newest team to hoist the Commissioner's Cup. If not, then we have a Game 4 tomorrow here in Danbury. And if a Game 5 is necessary, it will be back in Dayton on Tuesday the 26th at the Hara Arena.

There are still some great seats available for tonight's game. Contact the Whalers at 973-713-7547 to get your tickets before they are all gone. Can't make it to Danbury for tonight's game?
