CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has agreed to release Head Coach Frank Yallop from his contract, enabling him to immediately assume duties as the new Head Coach of the San Jose Earthquakes. In return, the Galaxy will receive the Earthquakes' 2008 natural third round MLS SuperDraft pick as compensation.

"Frank steered our team through a unique and challenging period in our history," Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said. "He is a friend and a gentleman, and I want to personally thank him for his contributions. We wish him nothing but the best in his return to San Jose."

Yallop became the fifth coach in Galaxy history in June, 2006 and went on to record a regular season record of 18-20-12 in less than two seasons with the club, also helping LA to the 2006 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final and the 2007 SuperLiga Final.

This week the Galaxy will head to Vancouver for a friendly game on Wednesday, November 7. Assistant Coach Trevor James will serve as interim head coach for the upcoming friendly games in Vancouver and Minnesota.
