Published on February 13, 2012 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, February 13, 2012 - The Disciplinary Prefect of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended today Carl Gélinas, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar left-winger, for 5 games after an incident which occurred during the game held on February 9th in Chicoutimi. Here is the rationale which led to the suspension:
The player at fault:
* Was travelling at a high speed;
* Hit his opponent's head with his forearm and his elbow;
* Was at his first offence.
His opponent:
* Was in a vulnerable position;
* Was not injured on the play.
The decision was rendered after reviewing the video of the incident, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials' report and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.
The video will be available shortly.
