Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH.— The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League released their 24-man roster for the upcoming season today. The Fury will head to nearby Grand Rapids to being their season on Saturday to battle the defending ArenaBowl champion Rampage at 7:30 PM.

The Fury made several moves before reaching the roster at its final state. Gone are OL/DL Desmond Byrd, WR/DB Anthony DiCosmo, FB/LB Derric Coakley, QB Craig Strickland OL/DL Andrew White and OL/DL Earl Scott. To fill the open positions, Head Coach Mouse Davis brought in WR/DB Willie Latta, OL/DL Eric England and FB/LB Ricky Wood. Wood was acquired in a trade for Byrd with Carolina.

"I'm pleased with the bunch of guys that we have now," said Davis. "We are pretty excited that the season is upon us and are ready to get it on."

Detroit is looking to build off last year's successful inaugural season, which saw the team go 7-7 in the regular season and earn the 10th seed in the ArenaBowl Playoffs.

Detroit has made some major changes during the offseason in terms of player personnel, none more obvious than at the quarterback position. This year the Fury have turned over the reigns to AFL veteran Rickey Foggie. Foggie has already gelled well in the preseason with fan-favorite OS Robert Gordon. Some other notable returning players are: WR/DB Chuck Levy, DS Kevin Scott, AFL Rookie of the Year OL/DL R-Kal Truluck, OL/DL Kelvin Kinney and WR/DB Chuck Winters.

The Fury's home opener is slated for Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 PM at The Palace of Auburn Hills. For ticket information, contact the Palace Box Office at (248) 377-0100 or log on to www.detroitfury.com.
