Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA, ON - After spending the past week at Florida's IMG Academy, Ottawa Fury FC will put their four-game preseason undefeated streak on the line when they visit KIA Field on Friday afternoon to take on Toronto FC II.

Friday's match will be an interesting challenge for Paul Dalglish's squad; a good opportunity for Ottawa to send a message to Toronto, as both teams will square off at TD Place on April 22nd in Fury FC's home opener.

In its first four preseason fixtures, Ottawa has scored 12 goals, while conceding only three. Tucker Hume and Gerardo Bruna, with four goals each, and Sito Seoane, with two goals, are leading scorers for Fury FC so far. Ryan Williams and Carl Haworth, have both scored their first goals in preseason action over the past two games.

After a demanding week in Florida and little time for training, Fury FC will have two good training sessions this week in Ottawa before heading to the Big Smoke. Last year, Ottawa defeated Toronto FC II 2-1 at KIA Field in preseason action, picking up the game-winner in the dying moments of the match.

Following Friday's match, Fury FC will be back in Ottawa next week - training at the RA Centre from Monday to Thursday - before hosting the Rochester Rhinos next Friday in a matinee game at the University of Ottawa.

What are they saying?

GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish:

"We want to win every game we play in. That's not just saying, that's genuine belief in this group. I believe in our players 100%. They believe in the staff 100%. There's real unity between us. We believe we should win every game, not only that we want to and that's what we will try to do all season long."

Defender, Onua Obasi:

"That's a team we will face in our conference and we will be looking to take the maximum points possible out of them. So Friday's game is our first chance to get a look at them and see where we need to be to beat them."

Forward, Carl Haworth:

"A lot of confidence comes from scoring goals, getting assists and setting up plays as an attacking player. I'm full of confidence right now and hopefully, I can get a few more before April 1st. We want to keep things going, keep our principles, make sure we do the little things right and fix what we needed to fix and hopefully, we'll get another good result on Friday."

Players to watch

Carl Haworth - He scored his first goal in preseason action in Ottawa's last game against Cincinnati and, boy, was it a beauty! Fury FC's 2016 top goal scorer of the year will be looking to build confidence against Toronto and find the back of the net again.

Onua Obasi - Probably one of the most active defenders in the team, Obasi is a constant threat on the left flank. With his size and his foot skills, the Englishman is eager to take an opponent one on one. Watch out for the step-overs and the nutmegs.

Ottawa Fury FC open the USL season April 1 in Saint Louis with their All-Canadian home opener set for April 22 against Toronto FC II. Season tickets are available at OttawaFuryFC.com, by calling 613.232.6767 X1 or in person at The Box Office at TD Place.
