OTTAWA, ON (July 19, 2015) - Ottawa Fury FC's offence exploded for four goals against the Indy Eleven on a scorching Sunday afternoon at TD Place extending the club`s unbeaten streak to an impressive eight games. A brace from captain Richie Ryan and goals from Rafael Alves and Tom Heinemann gave Ottawa their biggest offensive outing in TD Place history wth the 4-2 victory.

With the win, Fury FC sit second in NASL Fall Season standings with seven points - just one shy of FC Edmonton (8 points) who have played one more game played than Ottawa. Ottawa will play that game in hand Wednesday night at TD Place when the home stand continues against the Atlanta Silverbacks.

"It is great to score goals. It doesn't happen very often and it isn't my job on the team. But to score in front of our home fans is a proud moment for anybody on this squad," said Ottawa Fury FC captain Richie Ryan after his two-goal performance.

It was a clash between two of the NASL's hottest teams in Ottawa as the Indy Eleven brought their five-game unbeaten streak to Ottawa to take on Ottawa Fury FC and the club's current seven-game unbeaten streak.

The match started at a more reserved pace than usual as both sides tried to cope with the hot and humid weather conditions at TD Place.

However, things quickly intensified on the pitch as Fury FC defender Rafael Alves scored a header off of a beautiful free kick delivery just outside the box from midfielder Sanisa Ubiparipovic in the 13th minute.

The 6-foot-3 defender made no mistake sending the ball into the back of the net with a thunderous header off of the set piece play for his second goal of the season.

In the 33rd minute, Indy Eleven equalized as midfielder Don Smart drilled a powerful shot from 25 yards out, beating Fury FC goalkeeper Romuald Peiser. It was the first goal Ottawa conceded at home in 393 minutes of play.

The stalemate would not last long. In the 35th minute, after Indy Eleven defender Cory Miller was cautioned with a yellow card at the top of the box, captain Richie Ryan stepped up to score a beautiful free kick goal that stunned Indy goalkeeper Kristian Nicht and restored Ottawa's lead.

Ottawa pressed for another goal in the 45th minute as forward Tom Heinemann poked the ball over a sprawling Nicht, but his attempt went just wide. The first half had no shortage of action from both sides as Ottawa went into the half with a 2-1 lead.

Ottawa continued to buzz for more goals in the second half with shot attempts by Fury FC forwards Paulo Junior and Tom Heinemann.

In the 56th minute, Heinemann would break through the Indy defence and fire the ball into the far corner to give Ottawa a commanding 3-1 lead and send the 4,372 Fury FC supporters into a complete frenzy. Heinemann has been on fire as of late, scoring a goal in each of his last three games.

In the 60th minute, Fury FC goalkeeper Peiser made an impressive stop on Indy Eleven midfielder Dylan Mares. With his appearance in the contest, the Fury goalkeeper also surpassed the club's record for consecutive games played with 28.

In the 65th minute, after Heinemann drew a foul from about 20 yards out, Ryan stepped up again to take a free kick in a very similar scenario to his first goal. And just like his first, he would send a brilliant ball into the top right corner to score his second goal of the match.

In the 70th minute, Heinemann was subbed off to a roaring Fury crowd with forward Aly Alberto Hassan making his debut in a Fury FC kit as his replacement.

Fury goalkeeper Peiser made an incredible diving save on a penalty kick from Indy midfielder Victor Pineda in the 90th minute, but off the ensuing corner Indy defender Judson McKinney would score to make it 4-2.

That would be as close as the Indy Eleven would get as Ottawa Fury FC won the contest and extended their unbeaten streak to eight games.

"We are going to remind the players Monday and Tuesday about what a big opportunity this club has - not only going first in the fall season, but going in the top three in the combined standings. So we have to come out on Wednesday," said Fury FC head coach Marc Dos Santos.

Ottawa Fury FC host the Atlanta Silverbacks on Wednesday and then the Carolina RailHawks next Sunday. Tickets to these and other Fall Season matches are available at OttawaFuryFC.com.
