OTTAWA, ON - Fury FC remained undefeated in preseason action, as the club defeated USL side Saint Louis FC 2-1 Tuesday evening to open their week-long camp at IMG Academy. After Saint Louis tied the game at 1-1 in the 70th minute, Ryan Williams fired a missile-shot directly into the top corner three minutes later to give Ottawa a 2-1 win.

" I think we played with a lot of intensity. It was our first real test, so it was important to win that game to breathe confidence going into the season, especially against the team that we are going to play in our first game of the season," said Fury FC Head Coach and GM, Paul Dalglish. "I'm really pleased with our performance, I thought we were outstanding for an hour then conceded a goal, but found a way to close the game out."

Ottawa started the game with a lot of intensity and caused plenty of trouble for Saint Louis' defenders with its high-pressing style of play. Even though Fury FC didn't open the scoring in the first period of 30 minutes, they created many chances and trialist goalkeeper Adam Grinwis made some key saves. Onua Obasi was ejected at the 28th minute following a tackle, but since it was a preseason game, both teams kept playing 11v11.

In the second 30-minute period, Fury FC had a great opportunity to get themselves on the board when Tucker Hume was brought down in the 18-yard box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Unfortunately for Sito Seoane, his shot missed inches wide. But minutes later, Seoane redeemed himself when he took Gerardo Bruna's rebound and gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.

After a few missed opportunities by Ottawa, Saint Louis got the equalizer at the 70th minute when Matteo Kidd slipped behind Ottawa's defence and poked the ball past Andrew MacRae who had made a nice save minutes before. The tie game didn't last long as three minutes after Saint Louis' goal, Williams fired a 30-yard shot straight into the right top corner to give his team a 2-1 win.

"It was our first real test today and I think we passed, but most importantly we got good fitness out of it," said Ryan Williams. "It was nice to get out there tonight with the lads and show the intensity that we've been showing in training. We still have a plenty to work on, but at the end of the day we still have a lot of time to do it and we got a win tonight."

Following Tuesday's match, Fury FC will face OKC Energy Thursday and FC Cincinnati (February 25) at IMG Academy. Season tickets are available at OttawaFuryFC.com, by calling 613.232.6767 X1 or in person at The Box Office at TD Place.
