Fury FC Captain Voted on USL Team of the Week

September 11, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC Captain Carl Haworth has been selected on the USL Team of the Week for week 26 of the 2018 season. Slotting into the back line instead of his usual more attacking role, Haworth recorded seven clearances, four interceptions and provided the assist on Adonijah Reid's game-winner in Fury FC's 4-3 win against Toronto FC II last Thursday.

Haworth, now in his fifth season with Fury FC, is the longest-serving Fury FC player, as well as the club's first-ever Canadian signing back in 2013. So far this season, he has played 24 games, starting 20 of them, and leads the team for shots on target - he may very well be a record holder for the number of posts hit in one season as well. The Captain also has two goals to his name so far this season as he looks to guide his squad towards a USL playoff participation.

In 2017, he played 32 regular season games, starting in each of them and playing for a total of 2,880 minutes, including his 100th game for Fury FC in June. He led the team in passes and was also one of the most disciplined players. In 2016, the Barrie, ON, native produced highs across the board leading the team in goals, assists and shots. His NASL and Canadian Championship totals saw the Canadian striker finish the season with eight goals and six assists in all competitions. He was awarded the Fury FC 2016 Player of the Year for his efforts.

Ottawa Fury FC continue their battle towards a playoff appearance this weekend as they travel to Richmond to face the Kickers (Saturday, 7 p.m.). With every point on the line proving crucial, Haworth and the rest of the Fury players will look to establish their way on the road once more against a worthy opponent.
