
Fury FC Blank Syracuse 1-0 Thanks to Haworth Goal

(Canton, NY) - Fury FC remain unbeaten in pre-season action thanks to a 1-0 victory over Syracuse Orange Saturday evening. After a scoreless opening half, forward Carl Haworth netted an outstanding goal after controlling an impressive pass from Patryk Misik. Romauld Peiser and Waleed Cassis shared the clean sheet.
It was a chilly evening that marked Ottawa's first outdoor game of the pre-season. Fury FC produced some decent first half chances through Paulo Junior, Carl Haworth, Andrew Wiedeman and Ryan Richter. Syracuse had too many chances for Marc Dos Santos' liking in the opening half that would end scoreless at 0-0 by was marred by the injury of Phil Davies who left the game midway through the opening frame with an arm injury.
Ten minutes into the second half, Carl Haworth received an impressive through ball from Patryk Misik. Haworth controlled the ball and burst past the defender to slot home his second of the pre-season. Mere minutes later, Romuald Peiser was forced to come up big and denied Syracuse of a sure equalizer.
In the final 15 minutes Dos Santos paraded in all of his substitutes including goalkeeping trialist Waleed Cassis who made a pair of saves late in the game.
Fury FC will head to Carolina on Monday and will face Wake Forest University on Tuesday in their final game of the pre-season before opening the season Saturday, April 4 at 1pm against the Carolina RailHawks.
