Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. - The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League announced today that they have acquired quarterback Scott Milanovich from the Tampa Bay Storm in exchange for lineman Kelvin Kinney. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal are undisclosed.

Milanovich, 29, spent all of last season with the Storm, playing in eight games. He completed 101-of-181 passes for 1,223 yards and 22 TDs in his rookie season in the AFL.

Milanovich, 6-3, 215lbs., served as a backup QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996-99. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 expansion draft before eventually returning to the Bucs for the 1999 season. He was then allocated to NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder. The former Maryland star also played for the Los Angeles Xtreme of the XFL.

"It's very important that we solidify the quarterback position," said Fury GM and Head Coach Al Luginbill. "With the recent acquisition of Andy Kelly, and now bringing in Scott, this now gives us two number one quarterbacks with plenty of experience and two guys I have a lot of confidence in."

Kinney played two seasons with the Fury (2001-02). Kinney played in all 14 games last season, recording 18.5 tackles and three sacks. He also played four games in 2000 with the San Jose SaberCats.

The AFL kicks off its 17th season on February 2, 2003, on NBC. For more Detroit Fury news and off-season updates, log on to www.detroitfury.com.
