Fund Raiser to be Held September 6

Due to the effects of Hurricane Isaac, the fundraiser featuring Mississippi Surge coach Jeff Bes has been moved to Thursday, September 6.

Bes will be a celebrity bartender at Beef O'Brady's on Sangani Drive in D'Iberville. He will be serving beverages from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with all tips he raises going to benefit the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis society. ALS is commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, after the New York Yankee hall of famer who died of the disease.

"The number one thing for our fans and everyone is to be safe with this storm," Bes said. "We want everyone to take precautions to take care of themselves and their families. Then we will see everyone at Beef O'Brady's on September 6. "

Brandi Nickles, the ALS care services director for Mississippi is expected to be on hand for the fund raiser as well.

The Surge will begin its fourth season of play in the SPHL on Saturday October 27th at home against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Once again, this season, the Surge will have 28 home games at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
