Chicago capped the first perfect season in MLR history with the franchise's first-ever title, jumping out to a 17-3 halftime lead behind tries from Theo Fourie, Mason Flesch, Peyton Wall, and Nathan den Hoedt. California - a club that didn't exist a year ago, formed through a merger and reaching the championship in its debut season - never stopped swinging, with Coby Miln and Ed Timpson pulling them back within two scores in the second half. It wasn't enough to catch a Chicago team that hadn't lost all year.
