Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Ft. Worth Cats, the first half Central League champs, have started the second half of the season winning their first two game as they defeated Shreveport 10-5 at Fair Grounds Field Tuesday night.
For the second straight night the Cats scored in the first inning and added two more runs in the third to take a 3-0 lead. However, the Sports tied the game with a run in the second and two in the fourth. It was a four-run fifth inning by Ft. Worth that took care of the Sports and they never recovered.
The Cats banged out 17 hits, the most given up by Shreveport in one game. The Sports had 13 hits, the sixth consecutive game that Shreveport has had ten or more hits in a contest, but the pitching failed for the second straight night.
The highlight of the game for Shreveport came in fifth inning when Ft. Worth had the bases loaded with none out and the Sports turned a triple play. It was the first triple play turned in the Central League since 2002.
The third game of the four-game series is set for Wednesday at Fair Grounds Field between Shreveport and Ft. Worth. Game time 7:05.
