FRISCO, Tex. (March 11, 2008) - After his second straight game with double-figure receptions and triple-figure receiving yards, Frisco Thunder wide receiver Richard Morris was named Intense Football League offensive player of the week Tuesday.

Morris (6-2, 180) caught 14 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns as the Thunder downed the Katy Ruff Riders 66-63 Sunday afternoon to both improve to 2-0 and beat Katy for the first time in three tries. For the season, Morris has 24 catches for 298 yards and five scores.

"It's been exciting,'' said Morris, who played his high school football at West Orange Stark High School and later for Paul Quinn College. "I just love to play the game and I've been given a great opportunity."

Morris also appreciates the opportunity to keep the legacy of Paul Quinn's recently discontinued football program going. Also a track standout for the NAIA school, Morris had a 260-yard, three-touchdown day against Prairie View A&M to highlight his college career.

"It's down to me and one other player still in the game,'' Morris said. "I'm trying to keep things alive."

Thunder players have received both of the IFL's weekly awards for offensive: quarterback Wes Cooper garnered the nod following his nine-touchdown effort in the Thunder's season-opening 63-44 decision over the San Angelo Stampede.

Frisco (2-0) hosts the Alaska Wild Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Dr Pepper StarCenter. Contact (972) 731-6968 for ticket information.
