London Lightning News Release

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that London Lightning forward Gabe Freeman has been named Player of the Week for the week ending January 1, 2012. This is the second time that Freeman has earned the honour this season.

"Gabe definitely deserved it," explained Lightning Coach Michael Ray Richardson. "He is a hard worker day in and day out. He comes into every game playing his hardest, being a leader and leaving everything on the floor."

Freeman averaged a double-double of 21 points and 13.3 rebounds in three games, including two wins, for the first-place Lightning. His high scoring game came on January 1, 2012, when he scored 30 points in a 103-83 win over Moncton. One game earlier, he pulled down 17 rebounds in a 104-93 London win over Saint John.
