Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League announced today that it has signed Freedom wide receiver Jeremy Dutcher to its roster. Dutcher is the first Freedom player to sign with the AFL this year.
Dutcher led the Freedom in every receiving category in 2003, grabbing 68 passes for 980 yards and an incredible 30 touchdowns. He led all NIFL receivers in touchdowns and was 4th in receiving yards. Dutcher also ranked in the top ten in scoring with 180 points to his credit.
"Dutcher was a big part of our passing game, no doubt about it," said head coach Rich Huff. "He's got a real good feel for the indoor game, soft hands, and is quicker than most people expect. He did well in the AFL once, I'm sure he'll perform well again given the opportunity."
Dutcher's previous AFL stint was at the end of the 2002 season, when he signed with the Detroit Fury. In only two games, Dutcher had 6 catches for 107 yards and three scores. His average of 53.5 yards per game was the 4th best on the team. He also showed defensive ability as a linebacker, making 6 tackles.
