Freedom adds to roster, season tickets pass 3,000
February 3, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
As the 2004 season approaches, the Fort Wayne Freedom continues to fine tune its roster. Today, team officials announced the signing of former Northeastern University linebacker Adam Walter. As a senior in 2002 Walter earned team Defensive MVP honor for a Huskies team that qualified for post-season play. He was also a second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection.
"Adam is a guy we've been after for a while," said Head Coach Rich Huff. "He's coming out of a great program and has the potential to fill a lot of roles with us." In addition to his linebacker duties at Northeastern, Walter also served as a long snapper.
The Fort Wayne Freedom also announced today that season ticket sales for the upcoming 2004 season have topped the 3,000 mark. This represents a 30 percent increase over 2003, when the Freedom recorded the second highest attendance figure in the National Indoor Football League.
Two primary factors for the increase have been identified by team officials. "Fort Wayne is a fantastic all-around sports town and football at every level is a favorite," said team President Rich Coffey. "The style of play and accessibility to players really allows our fans to identify with the team." Fans are invited onto the field following each home game to meet players and coaches.
Coffey also commented on the staff's commitment to providing an excellent game-day experience and superior service to fans. "Malissa Fritz and Brad Harris have been vital to our success," said Coffey. Fritz is the main point of contact for most Freedom fans and all media. Harris, VP of Sales and Marketing, handles commercial accounts for the organization.
The Freedom kicks off the 2004 season Sunday, March 14th at home against the ShowMe Believers. Single-game tickets start at just $5 and go on sale March 1st at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum ticket office. For additional information and other Freedom news, log on to www.fwfreedom.com.
