Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes earned their season-best fourth straight win, as they held on to defeat the Lake Elsinore Storm by a final of 7-4.
The win for Rancho gives them their fourth road series-win of the year and moves them to within one game of the first-place Storm in the South Division's second half.
Jake Vogel finished with two hits, putting the Quakes in the lead for good with a third-inning double and Griffin Lockwood-Powell ripped a key three-run double to build Rancho's lead to five in the fifth.
Leading 7-4 in the ninth, Reinaldo De Paula came on for reliever Christian Suarez, who gave the Quakes 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. De Paula muscled up with a 1-2-3 inning, thanks to an incredible diving play by Sean McLain at short, earning his second save of the series and third of the year.
Reliever Gabe Emmett (1-1) tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless work in relief of Maddux Bruns to earn his first pro win.
Rancho (21-20, 57-50) will send Orlando Ortiz (2-4) to the mound on Sunday, in search of a fifth straight win and a possible share of first place. The Storm will counter with Jared Kollar, who will be making his Storm debut. Game time on Sunday is 4:05pm.
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 16 against the Modesto Nuts, for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
