Greeneville Astros News Release

Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros (14-14) used a four-run fourth inning to carry them to a 5-4 win over the Danville Braves (16-12) on Saturday night at Pioneer Park. With another one-run win, the Astros are now 6-2 in such games this season.

In the first inning, a Trent Woodward sacrifice fly scored Jason Martin to give the Astros an early 1-0 lead. However, it was the fourth inning when the majority of the action took place.

After a Tanner Murphy RBI double and a Fernelys Sanchez RBI single, the Braves took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Then, in the bottom of the inning, the Astros produced the runs that would become the difference in the game.

Five of the Astros' seven hits and four of their five runs on the night came in the fourth inning alone. Cesar Carrasco, Luis Reynoso, and Kristian Trompiz each had RBI singles while Ydarqui Marte added a RBI double in the frame. By the end of the inning, the Astros held a 5-2 advantage.

The Braves cut into the Astros' lead with an Alejandro Piloto RBI single in the seventh. Then, after adding another run in the ninth to drop the Astros lead to one, the Braves found themselves with the potential tying run at second with two outs. However, Astros' left-handed reliever Zach Davis fielded a ground ball from Matt Tellor and tagged him for the final out of the game.

For Davis, it was his third save of the season. Meanwhile, Brock Dykxhoorn got the win for the Astros after pitching three innings of relief with one run on one hit and three strikeouts.

The Astros will host the Danville Braves in game two of their three-game series on Sunday. As they do every Sunday, the Astros will be wearing Hawaiian shirt jerseys as part of their Hawaiian Shirt Sundays promotion. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
