Four More UFL Standouts Signed to NFL Practice Squads
December 16, 2010 - United Football League (UFL 1) News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Thursday, December 16 - Four more standouts of the 2010 United Football League season have signed to the practice squads of NFL clubs the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns.
Florida Tuskers cornerback SIMEON CASTILLE has joined the Minnesota Vikings. Castille spent the entire 2010 UFL season with the Tuskers, starting six regular-season games and the UFL Championship Game. He was second in the league in interceptions with three, led Florida with seven passes defended and was second on the team with 35 total tackles.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008, Castille appeared in eight games as a rookie, recording seven tackles and a pass breakup. He played in one regular-season game with the San Diego Chargers in 2009.
Two Hartford Colonials standouts have joined the practice squad of the New York Giants.
Linebacker KENNY INGRAM started seven of eight games at left outside linebacker for the Colonials this fall, making 22 total tackles with two passes defended and a forced fumble. Ingram came to the Colonials after originally signing with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He spent time on the Giants practice squad last year and was released in late July 2010.
BEN HANNULA was the Colonials' starting free safety for most of the 2010 UFL season, recording 16 total tackles and two pass breakups. Before his time in Hartford, Hannula participated in a Giants mini-camp in 2010. He was a wide receiver in college at the University of San Diego as a senior in 2008 and as a sophomore in 2006, and was a cornerback as a junior in 2007 and as a freshman in 2005.
Las Vegas Locomotives tackle BRANNDON BRAXTON has joined the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns. Braxton was the Locos' starting left tackle throughout the 2010 United Football League season as he won a second UFL championship. This was Braxton's second season in Las Vegas, as he served as the team's backup left tackle in 2009.
Prior to his time in the UFL, Braxton was in the 2009 Browns training camp after signing as an undrafted free agent.
