Fort Wayne's Russell Named NBA Development League Performer of the Week

NEW YORK, Dec. 6, 2010 - Walker Russell of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Nov. 29.

A 6-0, 175-pound guard out of Jacksonville State who has been in training camp with the New York Knicks, Russell led Fort Wayne to a 2-0 record for the week, averaging 24.5 points, 12.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in the Mad Ants' road victories at Maine and Springfield over the weekend.

On Friday, Russell had 18 points and 12 assists to lead Fort Wayne to a 105-99 victory over the Red Claws. In the Mad Ants' 130-124 win at Springfield on Saturday, Russell shot 12-for-16 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free throw line for a team-high 31 points, and added a game-high 13 assists.

Other top performers last week included Bakersfield's Trey Johnson, who averaged 26.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in three games, and Jeremy Wise, who averaged 19.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in three games; Fort Wayne's Chris Hunter, who averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games; Idaho's Carlos Wheeler, who averaged 20.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games; Iowa's Curtis Stinson, who averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists in three games, and Kyle Weaver, who averaged 24.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in three games; Maine's Tiny Gallon, who averaged 19.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games, and Jamar Smith, who averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists in three games; New Mexico's Dar Tucker, who averaged 22.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games; Reno's Aaron Miles, who averaged 18.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 8.7 assists in three games; Rio Grande Valley's Patrick Patterson, who averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games, and Mustafa Shakur, who averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in two games; Springfield's Craig Brackins, who averaged 20.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games, and Terrence Williams, who averaged 28.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 10.7 assists in three games; Texas' Antonio Daniels, who averaged 16.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists in three games, Justin Dentmon, who averaged 18.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in three games, and Dominique Jones who averaged 18.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game; and Utah's Orien Greene, who averaged 25.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 3.3 steals in three games, and Andre Ingram, who averaged 22.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in three games.
