Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
The Fort Wayne Freedom will be conducting open workouts on Friday, December 19th at the Plex in Fort Wayne. The Freedom staff invites all interested players, 18 or older, to register today to take the first step in making the 2004 roster. The number of participants will be capped at 100.
Last year's workouts yielded six players who made the opening day roster. All six saw action during the season and one, wide receiver Adrian Reese, was named to the Eastern Division All-Star Team. The coaching staff is looking forward to seeing another talented group this year as they prepare for the team's second season.
Registration begins at 9am with workouts starting about 10am. Cost is $60 and all registration forms and fees must be received by December 17th. Please make sure to wear shoes appropriate for artificial turf, shorts and t-shirt. A workout shirt will be given to you at registration. Registration forms can be downloaded by going to www.fwfreedom.com or by calling our office at 422-2293.
Players will be put to the standard tests such as the 40-yard shuttle, pro shuttle and vertical jump. Positions drills and one-on-one drills will give prospects the opportunity to show their ability. Both the 40 and shuttle will be timed electronically to ensure the sharpest accuracy. This will be a no contact camp. Following the workouts, sandwiches will be provided by Subway.
The workout will be held at the Plex, official practice facility of the Freedom. The Freedom's home away from home is also Fort Wayne's premiere venue for indoor soccer and inline hockey. The Plex is located at 1807 E. California Rd. The Plex can be reached at 260-496-9999.
