Rapid City Flying Aces News Release

Rapid City, SD - It's official the 6'1, 340 pound beast has landed in Rapid City, literally. Head Coach Dan Maciejczak headed to the Rapid City airport to pickup defensive lineman Tomasi Kongaika, as he arrived into town. "I went to the airport, knowing only a kids name, but had no idea who I was looking for," Maciejczak said. "When Tomasi came walking out of the plane, I no longer questioned who I was picking up, but how he fit in the plane."

The Rapid City Flying Aces are pleased to announce that the former Washington State Cougar has signed a contract for the 2006 season. The Anchorage, Alaska native is an imposing presence. The big man played recently in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts after a successful senior campaign at WSU, but was limited due to an injured ankle. Prior to his senior season, Kongaika started twelve of his twenty-two games for the Cougars in his first three seasons as an underclassman, and displayed great athleticism in the interior. Kongaika also missed action his junior year with a dislocated shoulder that kept him out most of the season.

"Tomasi is a solid pickup for us," said Coach Majic, "We're expecting big things from him defensively and he could develop into a two-way performer giving us a little more depth on the offensive line."

The Flying Aces kick off their 2006 season March 11th at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Season tickets for the Flying Aces upcoming season start at just $69.30, and are on sale now by contacting the Civic Center Box Office or by stopping by the Flying Aces headquarters located on the corner of 7th Street & St. Joseph's. Contact the Flying Aces office to select your seats today.
