Former VooDoo Players to Face-Off

NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans native and former VooDoo defensive back Delvin Breaux of the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats will face off against former VooDoo offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, August 2 on the NBC Sports Network at 9 pm. ET.
Breaux, former McDonogh 35 standout, was given a second chance at his dream after suffering a near career ending injury during a 2006 prep game against Jesuit High School. However, after an impressive open tryout for the New Orleans VooDoo, Breaux was assigned to the New Orleans VooDoo on November 5, 2012.
During his short tenure of three games with the VooDoo, Breaux recorded 10 defensive tackles (8 solo, 2 assisted) and one pass breakup before signing as a free agent with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger Cats on May 24, 2013.
Breaux has not wasted anytime making his presence known around the League, with four starts under his belt for the Tiger-Cats as #27, Breaux has recorded 12 tackles and seven pass breakups.
"It's been great, I'm so thankful for the opportunity that the VooDoo gave me," said Breaux. "Starting with the VooDoo and now making it to the CFL just opens up more opportunities for me as a player... I am just being patient and looking forward to the next step."
Breaux hopes that next step is the National Football League, but he says, for now, he is waiting his turn and is staying busy studying film and understanding the communication that is needed for a team to succeed.
Another familiar face in the CFL is former VooDoo offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman. The VooDoo acquired Coleman through a trade on April 18, 2013. Coleman started five games during his time spent with the VooDoo, before being signing with CFL's Edmonton Eskimos as a free agent on June 4, 2013.
"Since my time with the VooDoo, I have improved on my technique and have gotten a lot stronger," said Coleman. "While with the CFL, I have learned how to continue to play hard through the tough times. I just tell myself I have a job to do and that everything will work out for the best."
Far from a rookie, Coleman played for the Eskimos in 2008 before being traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Currently sporting #68, Coleman has started five games at left tackle for the Eskimos.
The Edmonton Eskimos (1-4) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-4) at Commonwealth Stadium on the NBC Sports Network at 9 P.M. ET
The New Orleans VooDoo will keep you updated on their progress throughout the CFL's season which concludes in late November.
