Former VooDoo All-Arena JLB Returns to New Orleans

September 16, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL) - New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans VooDoo have claimed Jack linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson off reassignment, the VooDoo front office announced on Monday morning.

Jackson (6-1, 200, Albany State) spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the VooDoo before joining the Pittsburgh Power for the 2013 season. While with the Power, Jackson recorded 70.5 tackles and three interceptions in 18 games.

As a rookie in 2011, Jackson played in all 18 games for the New Orleans VooDoo, making him one of three players to see action in every regular season game with the team that season. He led the team in total tackles (89.0), solo tackles (75), assisted tackles (28) and interceptions (eight). In 2012, Jackson earned First Team All-Arena honors after setting a single-season franchise record with an AFL-high 14 interceptions, the highest interception total for a Jack linebacker in League history.

Jackson played collegiately at Albany State University, starring on the offensive side of the football. He was twice named Second Team All-SIAC as a wide receiver.
