New Jersey Devils defenseman Brian Rafalski (Madison) has been added to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team for the 2004 NHL All-Star Game, Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Playing in his fifth NHL season, all with the Devils, Rafalski will be making his All-Star Game debut. The 30-year-old Michigan native was named to the North American All-Star roster in 2002 but missed the game because of a knee injury. He has appeared in each of the Devils' 52 games this season, ranks third on the club in ice time per game (23:25) and is fourth in scoring with 27 points (4G, 23A).

Rafalski, who came to the USHL in 1990, skated with the Madison Capitols and was recently named to the USHL's 25th Anniversary Team. He posted 12 goals and 23 points in 48 games with the Capitols and was named First Team All-USHL.

"We are very proud of Brian," said USHL President Gino Gasparini. "He is a testament to what a dedicated and determined player can accomplish."
