Rochester Rhinos News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rhinos announced today that Bill Sedgewick has been named the assistant coach for the 2010 season. Sedgewick joins head coach Bob Lilley on the bench as Rochester enters its 15th season of professional soccer. In addition to being the Rhinos assistant coach Sedgewick will be heavily involved in integrating the players into the Rochester community.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to work with two people I have played for and I respect," said Sedgewick. "I'm looking forward to this great opportunity to continue my soccer career in coaching and assisting in player development with the Rhinos on and off the field.

"Billy's work ethic, competitiveness and success on the field as a player are great qualities for an assistant coach," said Lilley. "These traits coupled with his commitment to giving back to the community set a high standard for our players to emulate. We are fortunate to bring him on staff."

Sedgewick, 38, played seven seasons with the Rhinos (1999-2005) and was a member of the Rhinos historic 1999 US Open Cup Championship and 2000 and 2001 A-League Championships.

The native of Wheat Bridge, Colorado attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City and played for the Colorado Foxes (1996) and Montreal Impact (1997-1998) in the A-League prior to signing with the Rhinos on February 24, 1999. Sedgewick spent the 2006 season with the Montreal Impact.

In addition to the playing in the A-League/USL First Division Sedgewick played 12 years of indoor professional soccer in the MISL and NPSL. Sedgewick will be in Buffalo this week at the Rhinos player combine taking place at Sahlen's Sports Park in Elma, NY.
