Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats have added 6'6 power forward, and former Halifax Rainmen stalwart, Eric Crookshank to the roster as an injury replacement for Damian Eargle, who has a strained tendon in his foot.

Crookshank will be on the Mill Rats roster for games against his former club at the Metro Centre tomorrow Friday December 27th and Sunday December 29th.

Rebounding Has Been An Issue

Saint John is #8th in the league in Rebounding Offense and 9th (last) in Rebounding Defense.

"Crookshank has hung his hat on rebounding and defense throughout his career," said Mill Rats President and General Manager Ian McCarthy. "If he can come in and do just that for us it would be a huge help, we can rely on simply out shooting teams every night."

McCarthy added: "We will evaluate him after these two games, along with Eargle's medical status, and then make decisions afterwards as to whether to make a more permanent change. Right now this seemed like a low risk, high reward type of opportunity."

Crookshank, from Vallejo, California, joined the Rainmen in their inaugural season (2006-2007) and averaged 20.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He was the cornerstone of the franchise until 2010-2011 when the Rainmen made it to Game 5 of the NBL Canada Finals, losing that deciding game to the London Lightning. His Rainmen jersey was retired in 2012 and hangs in the rafters of the Metro Centre.

Single game, season & flex tickets are still on sale at the at the Harbour Station Box Office by calling 506-657-1234.
