Former Packer Star to Attend Next Edge Home Game

Bloomington, IL "" The Bloomington Edge of the Champions Indoor Football League are excited to announce that Super Bowl Champion and Green Bay Packers legend Antonio Freeman will serve as honorary captain on Saturday April 23, 2016 at US Cellular Coliseum.
President of the Edge, Nargis Khokhar stated, "We are thrilled to bring Edge fans another football legend to Central Illinois. Seeing Cheesehead Nation in and around Bloomington, we thought it was only fair to bring in a Packers legend following HOF Dan Hampton!"
Freeman, a former star wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers from 1995-2001, was a member of the Super Bowl Champion Packers team that defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI where he caught an 81 yard pass from Brett Favre to take the lead. During Freeman's career in Green Bay he earned Pro Bowl, All-Pro honors and led the NFL in receiving yards in 1998. He was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 2009. Freeman's most famous catch came in overtime of a Monday night game on November 9, 2000 against the Minnesota Vikings. Freeman caught what initially appeared to be an incomplete pass while lying on his back-after almost being intercepted by Chris Dishman. The ball actually bounced off multiple parts of Freeman's body without hitting the ground. Untouched by the defender, Freeman jumped to his feet and ran the ball into the endzone for the winning score against their rival.
"I'm excited to represent the Edge on Cancer Awareness Night. Cancer awareness and support is a cause that I'm very passionate about, and I'm honored to meet the Packers fans of Bloomington", said Freeman.
The game will feature the Edge against the Wichita Force for Cancer Awareness Night. Doors will open to the general public at 6:00 pm with kickoff slated for 7:05 pm. Mr. Freeman will be available in the concourse during the 1st half for an interactive meet/greet with fans (no autographs). Edge United members and sponsors will have access to an exclusive pregame meet/greet with Mr. Freeman. Edge United memberships are still available starting at $20, and due to high demand, memberships are limited to the first 100 fans!
