Former Northern Illinois Standout Added to Rush Roster
May 10, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Chicago Rush News Release
Alex Kube (Northern Illinois) and Josh Pleasant (Kent State) were assigned to the Rush Thursday evening, reinforcing a defense which has seen its share of bumps and bruises over the first seven weeks of the season.
Kube, who spent time with the Rush in training camp, will see his first-ever Arena League experience Saturday against the Cleveland Gladiators.
He broke on to the collegiate scene with an impressive freshman season in 2007, ranking second in the entire nation in tackles among first-year players with 111 as a defensive back. As a result, he was named to two separate All-American lists after just eleven games at NIU. He transitioned to linebacker his final three years, and finished his career with 311 total tackles.
Due to the Rush trimming their roster down to the league-mandated 24-man limit, Kube was one of the final preseason cuts in early March.
Defensive back Josh Pleasant was also added to the team.
Pleasant played collegiately at Kent State, collecting 199 tackles over a four-year career for the Golden Flashes. He stock increased his senior season, as he tallied 59 tackles, two interceptions, and eleven passes broken up. The highly-decorated defensive back ended his career by being named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team.
Pleasant spent the past offseason with the Spokane Shock before also being a casualty of roster limits in the final days leading up to the 2013 season.
To make room for the pair, DB Vic Hall and DL Jacob Hardwick were placed on Inactive Reserve.
The Rush will travel to Cleveland today to take on the Gladiators Saturday night at 6:00.
