London Lightning News Release

(LONDON, ON) - The London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada announced Tuesday the signing of Canadian forward, Justin Jackson, ahead of the 2023 season.

Drafted number 43rd overall in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, Jackson would start his professional career with the Lakeland Magic of the NBA G-league after a draft day trade sent him to Orlando. Jackson played parts of the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons with Lakeland, culminating with a G-League Championship in 2021, before moving on to the Long Island Nets for the 2021-22 season.

A 6'8 forward from Scarborough, Jackson played collegiately at the University of Maryland for both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons where he averaged 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Prior to his time at Maryland, Jackson came up through the Canadian National ranks as a member of the U16, U17, and U19 Canada teams, eventually making the jump to the men's Senior National Team for FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in 2018.

"Justin may have the best resume of any Canadian prior to having played in our league. He's had some tough breaks injury wise but he's healthy now and we jumped at the opportunity to bring him in. He's a proven winner and competitor with a unique skill set at his size." - Head Coach Doug Plumb

The Lightning training camp will now get underway Monday, January 9th with more players and a full training camp roster to be announced in the days leading up to camp. Lightning season tickets are now on sale with single-game tickets set to go on sale shortly.
