Minnesota Magicians News Release
Former Minnesota Magicians forward Will Johnson has committed to play hockey at the University of Wisconsin for the 2015-2016 season.
A Santa Barbara, California native, Johnson was a member of the inaugural Magicians team during the 2013-2014 season. Despite being one of the youngest players on the roster, Johnson led the team with 19 goals and was 3rd on the roster with 35 points. His stellar play throughout his rookie campaign earned him a spot at the 2014 North American Hockey League (NAHL) Top Prospects event in Troy, Michigan, where he participated as a member of the NAHL U18 Selects team.
In spring of 2014, Johnson was drafted by the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in the sixth round (#96 Overall) of the USHL draft. Despite missing the last half of the season due to an injury, Johnson finished the year tied for 2nd on the team with 36 points (9 goals, 27 assists) in only 30 games played. He is expected to begin his collegiate career at Wisconsin during the 2015-2016 season.
