CHICAGO - The arenafootball2 league (af2) announced today that QB CRAIG STRICKLAND has been named the league's top quarterback of all-time, as selected by a group of af2 head coaches past and present, members of the media and fans throughout the country. Strickland, who played six seasons in the af2, completed his career in 2006 as the league's all-time leader in pass completions, pass attempts, passing yards and touchdown passes. He also helped guide Tulsa to an ArenaCup Championship in 2003.
"Craig was a super talent in our league and is very deserving of this honor," said af2 President Jerry Kurz. "He was a great competitor and a great leader during his playing career, two traits that have certainly served him well as a coach."

Craig Strickland at a glance
Strickland, who played six seasons in the af2, completed his career in 2006 as the league's all-time leader in pass completions (1,736), pass attempts (3,029), passing yards (22,688) and touchdown passes (481). He spent his first three years with the Tulsa Talons (2000-01, 2003) and his last three with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (2004-06), guiding the clubs to the postseason every year. Strickland led the Talons to the 2003 ArenaCup title. He became the first af2 quarterback to ever throw for 20,000 yards in 2006 in a 90-54 home win against Midwest Division and in-state rival Tulsa. It was fitting to note that the record came against the same team where Strickland began his af2 career. He earned All-af2 First Team honors in 2004 and Second Team accolades in 2003 and 2006. After his playing career concluded in 2006, he accepted a coaching position with Tulsa to be the team's offensive coordinator. He and rookie head coach and fellow former Talons standout Mitch Allner made an immediate impact as the duo led Tulsa to a 14-2 regular season record in 2007. They capped off their first year by guiding the Talons to their second ArenaCup Championship in team history. Allner and Strickland became the first coaching pair in league history to win an ArenaCup title as both a player and coach.
