
Former IceMen Forward Joins Blaze

The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, have acquired a forward who returns to the Central Hockey League with four seasons of experience in the circuit.
Mathew Pierce played with the Evansville IceMen during the last two seasons, scoring 15 goals with 13 assists for 28 points while playing in every game in 2011-12. The 15 goals equaled his single- season scoring high at the AA level. He also collected 28 penalty minutes. Pierce is six feet tall and weighs 205 pounds, and is a native of Arnprior, Ontario. This will be his sixth professional season.
"Mathew has been a consistent and effective player throughout his career and in the Central Hockey League," said Blaze coach Brian Gratz. "I look for Matt to contribute in many areas this season."
The Blaze begin their second season in the AA-level Central Hockey League at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday, October 19 against the Rapid City Rush. Season and group ticket packages and sponsorship opportunities are still available, and individual game tickets will go on sale soon.
