Former Honkers Coach Sends Two Players to Rochester

(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers have announced the signings of Casey Dunlap and Ryan Casper, juniors from Point Loma Nazarene. Casper joins the squad as a temporary player.

Dunlap is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound infielder. Through nine games this season, Dunlap has four hits in 23 at-bats. He has driven in four runs. Dunlap began his collegiate career at Phoenix College. During his two years there, Dunlap played 111 games and compiled a .313 batting average. He proved to be a big run producer at Phoenix College with seven home runs and 98 RBIs. Dunlap is a native of Durango, Colo.

Casper is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound outfielder and right-handed pitcher. Casper has made 14 plate appearances so far in the 2018 season and has three hits and two walks. He's also made two mound appearances. As a sophomore at Point Loma, he made six relief appearances and earned a record of 1-0 while having a 4.91 ERA. He made four straight appearances without giving up a run. At the plate, Casper hit .217 with two doubles and one home run. He drove in seven runs. As a freshman he struck out 10 batters over 9 2/3 innings. He compiled a 4.66 ERA. He singled in his only at-bat. Casper is a native of Encinitas, Calif.

Point Loma (7-6) continues their season on March 3 at Hawaii Pacific in Honolulu Hawaii for a four-game series. Former Honkers pitching coach, Demetre Kokoris, currently serves as the pitching coach Point Loma.

The Rochester Honkers 25th season begins on Tuesday, May 29th when the team hosts the Eau Claire Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. 5-Game Packs and Kids Club Memberships are available now!
