
Former Duluth Huskie Wade Meckler Debuts with the Giants

Rochester, Minn. - Former Duluth Huskie Wade Meckler made his Major League debut for the San Francisco Giants on Monday, August 14, 2023. Meckler is the 332nd former Northwoods League player to reach the Major League level.
Meckler, who played collegiately at Oregon State University, played for the Huskies in 2019. He was drafted by the Giants in the 8th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
In 2019 with the Huskies, Meckler played in 34 games and hit .267 with five stolen bases, 10 doubles and a triple. He drove in seven and scored 18 times.
Meckler started his professional career in 2022 with the Giants team in the Arizona Complex League. After 12 games he was promoted to the San Jose Giants of the A Level California League. For the season he played in 23 games and hit .367 with 11 doubles, one home run and 14 RBI. He stole two bases and scored 21 times.
Prior to his call-up to the Giants, Meckler had started the season with the Eugene Emeralds of the Hi-A Northwest League. He then moved up to the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the AA Eastern League and then was promoted again to the Sacramento River Cats of the AAA Pacific Coast League. For the year he was hitting .379 with five home runs, 15 doubles and three triples. He had driven in 46 and stole six bases. In his Major League debut against the Tampa Bay Rays, Meckler started the game in centerfield and went 0 for 3 and the plate with a walk.
