
Former Chill Player Matt Blomquist Wins Award

Matt Blomquist, former defenseman for the Coulee Region Chill and now with Bentley University, won Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week this last weekend after putting up four assists and a +2 stat line as the Bentley Falcons swept Northeastern. Â Two of Blomquists' four assists came both Friday and Saturday night.
Blomquist played in the NAHL for three seasons, one with the North Iowa Outlaws in 2009-10 (moved from Mason City, IA to La Crosse, WI after 2010 season) and two seasons with the Chill organization from 2010-12.  While with the Chill, Blomquist appeared in 108 games, posting a 6-19-25 stat line in 2010-11 and 7-27-34 stat line in 2011-2012.
In his playing career with Bentley University, Blomquist has been named to many awards such as the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie and Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team in 2012-13 as well as second-team All-Atlantic and once again the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic in 2013-14.  The following year Blomquist made the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic year for the third straight season.
