Former Dubois County Bomber pitcher Steve Cishek was a recent September call up of the Florida Marlins. He appeared in 3 major league games, all in relief, and in 4.1 innings allowed no runs, 1 hit, 1 walk and struck out 3.
Cishek, a product of Falmouth (MA) High School played college ball for Carson Newman and Head Coach Tom Griffen and just finished his third full season of Minor League Ball helping the Double A Jacksonville Suns win the Southern League Championship. In 22 games at Double A, he went 3-1 with a 4.32 E.R.A. over 31.1 innings, allowing 30 hits, with 10 walks and 34 strikeouts.
In 2006, Cishek pitched for the Bombers, compiling a 0.93 ERA in 9 innings of relief. He was hosted by perennial Bomber MVP's Jim and Cheryl Ranger. Congratulations to Steve!
