(St. Catharines, ON) Former stars of the Brock University baseball team, Raul Borjas (Venezuela) and Jeremy Walker (Aurora, ON) will platoon the outfield for the Canadian Baseball League's (CBL) franchise in nearby Welland, ON – the Niagara Stars. The Niagara Stars drafted both former Badgers over the weekend.

Borjas (1999-2002), the 2002 OUA MVP and Two-Time All-Canadian, recently wrapped up his fourth season with the Brock Badgers. During his rookie campaign, Borjas paired with Walker (1998-99) to help Brock win its second straight National Championship (1999). They also were teammates with the Hamilton Cardinals of the Senior Intercounty Baseball League.

Borjas and Walker are two of only three former Brock players to play professional baseball. Former teammate Andrew Tinnish played a season with the Capitales de Quebec of the Northern League. In 1999 Borjas (.438), Tinnish (.414) and Walker (.379) finished first, second, and fourth, respectively, amongst team batting average leaders.

Joining the two former Badgers in the outfield is former Toronto Blue Jay (1997-98) Rich Butler (Toronto, ON). This past summer, with the Brantford Red Sox, Borjas edged out Butler and Walker to be named Intercounty Baseball League First Team All-Star. It was the second First Team All-Star recognition for Borjas. Walker and Butler were both named Second Team All-Stars.

The inaugural dispersal draft took place over the weekend with results just made public. The upstart eight-team league kicks off May 21. Niagara opens it schedule on the road before hosting the London Monarchs at home on May 29. Niagara plays it home games at the Welland Sports Complex.
