Forest City Owls News Release

The Forest City Owls are excitedly looking forward to the 2016 season! The Boys of Summer, led by 2015 manager JT Maguire, open the Coastal Plain League Season at home on Tuesday, May 31.

Before the regular season gets started though, the Owls will play an exhibition game against Catawba Valley on Monday, May 30. Admission will be free to all fans who want to catch a sneak peak of the 2016 Owls.

Family attractions, live music and some new selections at the concessions stand headline the 2016 schedule. The Owls place twice at McNair field on opening weekend, June 3rd and 4th. A special guest celebrity will come to Forest City just to help kickoff the new season.

The Owls welcome the 16th team to the CPL and the first team in Georgia. The new team in Savannah, GA makes its inaugural visit to Forest City on Saturday, July 16.

With the addition of a team in Savannah, the League splits into two, eight-team divisions. The most prominent division rival, the Gastonia Grizzlies, visit Forest City three times, June 6th, June 20 and July 4th.

Plan on having a fun filled day at McNair Field before the July 4th game against Gastonia. Family events, a home run derby and fireworks will all be at the ballpark on Independence Day.

Later that month the Owls celebrate the 250th Coastal Plain League game played in Forest City in late July. The team will celebrate its fans and the community with festivities to honor the milestone. Over the course of eight seasons, fans have helped the Owls to wins in 64% of home games.

Enjoy lowered pricing on some of your favorite concession stand items next season, too! Of course the team will still host fireworks shows, Breast Cancer Awareness Night, and the Great Community Giveback Game, among other returning and brand new fun filled nights over the course of 28 home games.
