Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks opened up a four-game series with a 6-2 win over Lake Elsinore in front of 4,348 at The Hangar Friday night to kick off Star Wars Weekend. Antonio Santos earned his first win on the mound and Max George added another big fly for Lancaster.
Santos (1-1, 5.50) pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs to get the victory. It's his first with Lancaster and his second of the season overall. The righty struck out six hitters and did not issue a walk.
Lancaster (13-10, 46-67) struck first with a Tyler Nevin RBI single in the opening inning. After falling behind by a run, the JetHawks tied it up in the third on a Colton Welker RBI single.
The JetHawks scored four more on Nick Margevicius (1-1) in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. Max George continued his power surge with a three-run home run to put Lancaster in front. George has 12 home runs on the year, including seven in his last 13 games. Alan Trejo added an RBI double to make it a four-run lead.
Lake Elsinore (9-14, 43-50) got a two-run home run from Hudson Potts in the second inning, but that was it for the visiting offense. Behind Santos, Alexander Guillen and Salvador Justo each threw a scoreless inning to keep Lake Elsinore at bay. The Storm offense was held to four hits over the final seven innings.
The JetHawks improved to 13-10 in the Second Half and brought their overall record to 46-47. Lancaster has a three-game edge on the Storm in the standings.
The four-game set continues Saturday night. Matt Dennis (6-9) goes against Lake Elsinore's Emmanuel Ramirez (4-3). Star Wars weekend continues, with the first 1,000 fans getting a Beach Towel! First pitch is at 6:05 pm.
