Georgia Force News Release
Norcross, Ga - The Georgia Force announced on Wednesday that offensive lineman Sean Allen from has been signed to the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.
A former standout at East Carolina University, Allen was signed by the Force in October and spent was in training camp with the Bills during the summer. After a sudden rash of injuries to the Bills offensive line, Allen was called back; a move that didn't catch Force head coach Dean Cokinos by surprise.
"When I signed Sean he was heavily recommended by NFL scouts and the expectation was that he could get the call back at any time," Cokinos said. "Our goal is to attract the best players available who have the ability to move up and Sean exemplifies that. We are happy for him and wish him extended success."
With Allen no longer on the roster, the Force occupied his roster spot with another highly touted offensive lineman and signed former Virginia Tech offensive guard Sergio Render. Considered to be one of the top interior OL prospects available in the 2010 NFL Draft, Render ended up being undrafted, but was immediately signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the draft.
Render attended Newnan High School in Georgia and was as listed as the No. 7 center prospect in the nation in 2005. He chose Virginia Tech over Arkansas and Florida State, among others, and was listed at No. 8 on Rivals.com2 s preseason interior linemen power rankings in 2009. He was also named to the 2009 Outland Trophy watch list and was named to the All-ACC Second Team twice during his collegiate career.
"We are excited about Sergio," Cokinos said. "Like Sean, he is a highly regarded offensive lineman that will upgrade our team. He also has the ability to play guard or center for us which is vital in the Arena Football League as we function with a short game roster."
