Philadelphia Force News Release

ALLENTOWN, Pa.-- The Philadelphia Force collected a loss in their home opener tonight against the Chicago Bandits 3-0.

The game was looking good with two strong pitchers in the circle for both teams: Megan Gibson for the Force, and Jennie Finch for the Bandits.

The Bandits scored their winning run, the first of the night, when Vicky Galindo singled through the left side, stole second and scored on an error by Lillian Hammond. Rachel Folden, who reached second on the error, then scored on a single up the middle by Samantha Findlay.

The final run on the night was scored in the seventh inning as Tammy Williams hit a homerun over the right field fence.

Unfortunately, Finch was on her game tonight as she struck out 12 in her seven complete innings, and never gave up a hit to the Force, marking a perfect game for the veteran.

The Force are back in action for game two of the five-game series against the Bandits, tomorrow night at 7:35 at ECTB Stadium.

The Philadelphia Force is a member of the National Pro Fastpitch League. The team is located in ECTB Stadium in Allentown, Pa., having taken the rights from the New York/New Jersey Juggernauts in 2006. The Philadelphia Force is proud to provide fans affordable family entertainment, elite women athletes the opportunity to pursue a professional career in softball, and is a core constituency of the local communities.
