Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (May 27, 2015) - Ron Jaworski and the Philadelphia Soul, joined by state and local business development groups and fantasy football powerhouse DraftKings, has resulted in a new nationally televised professional football event for Atlantic City. The inaugural DraftKings Boardwalk Bowl is bringing football back to the shore. On May 30 tune in to watch the Philadelphia Soul battle the League's newest franchise, the Las Vegas Outlaws. CBS Sports Network will nationally televise the contest.
The last time football was played at the shore was in 2004. The Atlantic City Card Sharks was a team in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL). They were coached by former Oakland Raiders WR Mike Siani and finished the season with a 9-5 record. Unfortunately they lost in the first round of the playoffs and then folded after only one season.
"I'm looking forward for the team playing at this venue, with the historic setting, there has been so many major events and now to add our team to that list is great," says Soul COO John Adams. "So much planning has gone into this game, with Ron (Jaworski) leading the way, and with the negative views piling we wanted to give the people something they can cheer for."
Besides the game, there will be several events for the public to attend. On Friday evening, the South Jersey Chamber of Commerce along with the Metropolitan Business and Citizens Association will host a "Business After Business" event from 6-8pm at the Tropicana Casino and Resort, inside the Chickie's and Pete's restaurant. This event is tailored to business executives looking to network with other business executives. On game day, the official DraftKings Boardwalk Bowl Pep Rally presented by WJSE 106.3 "The Rock Alternative", is set for noon-2pm at the Tropicana Casino and Resort inside the Chickie's and Pete's Restaurant. Also set for noon, there will be a Youth Football Combine designed for kids ages 5 to 14 and run by Soul players and management and designed to give kids a pro athlete combine experience. After the combine, there will be a dance clinic run by the Soul dance team coach and dancers. Then starting at 3pm, Global Spectrum, operators of Historic Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center, will host the Bud Light Boardwalk Pre-Party. The free tailgate party will be held on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk at Kennedy Plaza.
If you haven't gotten your tickets for this Saturday's game, go to Ticketmaster now before they are all gone. The Soul look forward to putting on a great show at the Boardwalk Hall and would hate for you to miss it.
