Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Schaumburg, IL - The Flyers (18-28) took the completion of Tuesday's suspended game 5-2 and the third game of the series against the Riverhawks (19-25) 4-3 in extras Wednesday afternoon.

The first contest began in the bottom of the second inning and Joe Nowicki kicked off the festivities with a solo homer to put the Flyers on top. It was the third bomb in four nights for Nowicki. Two batters later, Richard Mercado launched his team high fifth over the wall to make it 2-0.

Rockford came back with two runs in the fourth to tie it up on an Ian Church triple followed by Evan McArthur's sacrifice fly.

But the Flyers took the lead for good in the eighth. After Ruddy Yan and Brandon Newton walked, Ron Bourquin smacked a base hit to right to plate two. Nowicki followed up his blast with an RBI single to plate Bourquin and push the lead to 5-2.

Josh Giles came in to notch his fourth save of the year. Matt Elliott picked up the win, tossing 3.1 perfect innings.

The second game of the day began all Rockford with a two run first inning against starter Todd Moser (1-5).

But the Flyers fought back with a run each in the second and fourth innings. Moser settled down, allowing just one hit after the first.

Schaumburg took the lead in the bottom of the seventh after Chris Schultz launched a two out double to left. Dylan Parzyk stepped up and smacked a single to plate Schultz.

After Rockford's Kevin House singled in Travis Scott, both teams couldn't score until the eleventh. Yan led off with a single into center and Josh Burrus doubled down the right field line to put runners on second and third. After Travis Brown was intentionally walked, Bourquin drew the bases loaded walk to plate the winning run.

Cody Evans got the win in relief, tossing a perfect eleventh, while David Wagner took the loss for Rockford.

The Flyers begin a four game set with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks at Newman Outdoor Field Thursday night.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Flyers take on the RiverHawks. The Schaumburg Flyers Pregame Show gets rolling at 6:55 PM with the game to follow.
