Atlanta Blaze News Release
The Atlanta Blaze (3-8) hosted the Florida Launch (2-9) on Saturday evening at the Blaze's home field of Fifth Third Bank Stadium falling to the Launch 14-8. The Launch led the entirety of the game and left no room for the Atlanta Blaze to create a comeback.
The Florida Launch started with a hot start over Atlanta as they began with a 3 and 0 run at the start of the first quarter. The Blaze finally answered back with a goal of their own, scored by newcomer to the Blaze, John Yozzo-Scaperrotta. At the end of the first quarter Atlanta was down by 2 with a close score of 5-2.
Just seven seconds into the 2nd quarter, Florida instantly scored, giving them momentum early in the 2nd quarter. A hat trick by Florida's Kieran McArdle only built on an aggressive Launch offense and the half closed with Florida leading Atlanta 9-6.
With limited scoring in the 3rd quarter coming from both teams the game remained relatively steady as the Launch led 11-7 to finish the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter started off slow but as time passed, the Launch began to pull away, finishing the game with a 14-8 win over Atlanta.
Lyle Thompson was the player of the game for the Florida Launch in this matchup against the Atlanta Blaze scoring a total of six points, two goals and four assists.
The Atlanta Blaze will play their next game home at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on July 30th at 7 pm against the Ohio Machine.
