
Five UHL players selected to 2005 USA Hockey Inline roster

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- USA Hockey InLine, a program of USA Hockey, Inc., released their 2005 USA Hockey InLine Team Roster on Thursday, July 7th. Five members selected to the roster played for United Hockey League (UHL) teams during the 2004-2005 season.
Jeff Reynaert was selected as a goaltender for Team USA. It is the fourth consecutive year that he has been named to the squad. He helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2004 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) InLine Hockey World Championship. Reynaert had a record of 15-18-4 for the Quad City Mallards during the 2004-05 season. He posted a 2.99 goals against average and a .894 save percentage. The 26-year-old Sterling Heights, Michigan native was named UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending October 31, 2004.
Jason Deskins was also selected as a forward to Team USA for the fourth consecutive year. Additionally, he was named an assistant captain for the 2005 team. He collected 16 points (8g, 8a) during the Team USA gold medal run at the 2004 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship. In 2004-05, Deskins ranked second in scoring for the Quad City Mallards with 66 points (27g, 39a) in 74 games played. The 26-year-old native of Warren, Michigan was named to Team Mountain Dew at the 2005 UHL All-Star Classic.
Derek Kern earned his first selection to Team USA and will play defense. The 26-year-old Smithtown, New York native played center in 71 games for the Kansas City Outlaws in 2004-05. He tallied 19 points (7g, 12a) and 118 penalty minutes.
Geno Parrish was selected to Team USA for the second time. He helped Team USA earn the bronze medal at the 2003 InLine World Championship. The 30-year-old defenseman from Bloomington, Minnesota played 21 games for the Danbury Trashers in 2005 and notched 13 points (1g, 12a). After being selected in the 2005 Expansion Draft by the Port Huron Flags, Parrish had his rights traded to the Roanoke Valley Vipers.
Chris Peterson earned his second consecutive selection to Team USA. He was a member of the gold medal team at the 2004 InLine World Championship. The 24-year-old native of Clinton Township, Michigan appeared in four games for the Flint Generals during the 2004-05 season.
Additionally, Mark Doren was named the athletic trainer for the U.S. National Team. Doren was recently named the athletic trainer for the Danbury Trashers after spending the 2004-05 season with the Quad City Mallards. Derek Craft was named the equipment manager for Team USA. Craft was the equipment manager for the Quad City Mallards during the 2004-05 season.
Team USA competed in the preliminary round of the 2005 IIHF InLine Hockey World Championship on Sunday in Kuopio, Finland, defeating Slovenia 5-1. Forward Jason Deskins notched two assists for the U.S. National Team. Derek Kern scored the fifth goal for Team USA and Geno Parrish added an assist. Goaltender Jeff Reynaert stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the victory.
Team USA faces Slovakia today and meets Germany on Tuesday.
