
Five Spots Filled, One Remains
July 3, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE: United Indoor Football (UIF) will feature six of the ten UIF teams in the post-season. Seeds one and two will receive first round byes and would have seeds 3 versus 6 and 4 versus 5 in the first round. Home field will be awarded to the team with the highest seed in the playoffs. First round action will take place on the weekend of July 14-16. The semi-final round action will feature seed one playing against the lowest remaining seed and seed two taking on the last remaining team. Seeds one and two will both have home field in the second round. This round of games will be played on the weekend of July 21-23. United Bowl II will take place on July 29 at the home of the highest seed remaining of the two final teams.
The Division winners will be awarded seeds one, two and three and will be placed in the correct order according to winning percentage and if needed, tie breakers. Currently through the first 15 weeks of the season, the Sioux Falls Storm (14-0) of the West Division receive the first seed, the Lexington Horsemen (12-2) from the East Division will be the second seed and the third seed goes to the Rock River Raptors (10-4) of the Central Division. All three teams have clinched the division title and the top three seeds.
The Omaha Beef (7-7) and Evansville BlueCats (7-7) each received their ticket to fight for United Bowl II as they clinched playoff seats. The Beef currently sit in the fourth position and the BlueCats are in the fifth seat of the playoff picture. Only one spot remains unspoken for as the Ohio Valley Greyhounds (6-8), the Sioux City Bandits (5-9) and Bloomington Extreme (5-9) all have shots at the final spot. Currently the Hounds take the sixth seed.
Below is a step-by-step process of how the playoff structure will take place:
Seeding
Seeds 1, 2, 3 will be the top teams in each division
Seeds 4, 5, 6 will be awarded to next three teams with the highest winning percentage overall
Tiebreakers:
Tie breakers for teams tied in the Same Division will be used to determine Division Champions (seeds 1 thru 3) (as needed).
2 teams tied from the Same Division (tie breaks will be used in the order listed)
1. Head-to-head winning percentage in regular season games played against one another
2. Winning percentage in regular season games played against teams within the division
3. Winning percentage in regular season games played against common opponents (at least10 games)
4. Point differential in regular season games played against one another
5. Point differential in all regular season games played
6. Point differential in games played against other teams in the division
7. Point differential in games played against common opponents (at least 10 games)
8. Coin Toss
3 or more tied teams from the Same Division (tie breakers will be used in the order listed)
Go step by step through these tiebreakers until one team has been eliminated. Repeat until only two teams remain. Then use the tiebreakers for 2 tied teams from different divisions.

Go step by step through these tiebreakers until one team has been eliminated. Repeat until only two teams remain. Then use the tiebreakers for 2 tied teams from different divisions.

3. Point differential in regular season games played against the other tied teams
