First State Fusion News Release

Dover, DE--The First State Fusion has officially announced Nate Brown as head coach for the upcoming inaugural season. Coach Brown, a native of Bear, DE, will look to build upon his decorated career in the United States Marine Corps as he begins his first season as head coach of the First State Fusion in the American Basketball Association (ABA).

Coach Brown began his service in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977. During his career he has reached the peaks of the game of basketball, both as a player and a head coach. Brown was a Small Forward for the Security Battalion Basketball Team in Quantico, VA and the All Marine Base Basketball Team in Camp Lejeune, NC. Upon the completion of his career as a top athlete, Brown continued to live out his passion for the sport as a head coach. He has raised championship trophies in the Military Interservice League (all military branches) in Okinawa, Japan; the Philippines; and Quantico, VA (consecutive years). In addition, Coach Brown led his team to two consecutive finals appearances in the Sugar Ray Leonard Semi-Pro Basketball League.

When asked for his thoughts about the upcoming season, Coach Brown stated, "As this being our first year together, we are looking to be very competitive in every game, giving 110% night in and night out with hard-nose defense, sound execution of the offense, and an understanding of individual roles to comprise a great team." Expectations will be high for the players, especially from a coach that has experienced so much success in the recent past. However, it is not all about pure talent with Coach Brown, "I look for the intangibles in my players, a positive attitude, heart and a desire to win you can not teach."
